ART WORKS in Johnstown! Late Summer 2007
LAUNCH II Artists' Reception to be held on Labor Day Weekend
ART WORKS in Johnstown! invites you to a reception for two exhibits on Friday, August 31st, at 6 PM. The first is the work of this year's Artists in Residence: Sara Walko. Jason Brown, and Jon Rugh. A grant from the Community Foundation and contributions from community members have made this creative time possible for them. The second exhibit is a Large Format/Installation Show with work by regional artists: Kathleen Kase Burk, Norman Ed, Janie Leck-Grela, Marianne Krizner, Brandon Locher, James Richey, Helen Thorne, and George Turner.
The Johnstown Concert Ballet will perform Progressions, a stunning contemporary dance, at 7:30 PM. Music throughout the evening will be provided by WorldSong.
Visual and performing artists are thrilled with the spaces in the new facility. You will want to see it also before the final phase of renovation begins in the fall.

Build-a-Kiln Workshop Held at ART WORKS
Kevin Turner, Ceramics Chair at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; long time potter, Bob Bonnet; and Jon Rugh, ART WORKS Artist in Residence combined their considerable expertise and led students through the process of building a kiln. The class was held at the kiln site on Third Avenue on two Saturdays, July 21st and 28th from 9 AM to 4 PM. Besides the experience of being part of the building the kiln, the students received written information and drawings. The kiln will be used by Artists in Residence at the ART WORKS.
